Most sets that come in are not worn out. They are dirty, and their grooves have gone smooth in the one place the ball actually touches. Those are two different problems and they have two different fixes.

Cleaning and polish is what it sounds like, done properly: faces, soles, shafts and grips, not just the bits you see in the bag. A set comes back looking like it did in the shop, which is worth more than most people expect when it comes time to sell them on.

Groove sharpening restores grooves that have worn smooth and makes a real difference to spin on wedges. This is the one that changes how a club plays rather than how it looks.

A word about groove sharpening

Regrooving is meant for practice and casual play. A regrooved club may not conform to the Rules of Golf for tournament use.

We will tell you where yours stand before starting — including when the honest answer is that they are fine as they are, or that the set is not worth the work.
