Rubber: Consistent and durable. The right default for most players.
A polyurethane outer layer gives this a distinctly different feel from rubber — tackier in the hand, and noticeably warmer to hold in cold weather, which is why it is a common winter swap.
Light at 47 g, so a full-set change from a heavier grip will shift swing weight measurably. Worth pairing with our swing-weight audit if you are sensitive to it.
On the bench: polyurethane grips need more solvent and a faster hand than rubber — they grab the tape quickly and you get one attempt at alignment. Allow us the extra minute per club.
